Natal Astrology (Hermetic System)
Part VI. Friends, Enemies, Hopes and Associationsn
by C.C. Zain

To grasp clearly the significance of the power of daily environment to influence human life and destiny, it becomes necessary that the radio-active property of things be better understood. For, as we all know, life itself consists of the reaction of the organism to its environment. Yet, while the human reactions to certain physical conditions which are more obvious are well recognized, the more potent influences of environment are commonly neither taken into consideration nor recognized. Those more potent influences are the radio-active qualities possessed by the etheric and astral counterparts of every existing thing.

That when a musical tone is sounded in the vicinity of a stringed instrument, the tone brings forth a response from the instrument, and that when the note C, for instance, is thus sounded, no other string is affected by sympathetic vibration except the C string, is well known and easily demonstrated by experiment. Also, now that radio has become popular, we have an every day object lesson in the power of vibration of certain length and frequencies to set up sympathetic response in a distant properly-keyed receiving instrument. But if the receiving instrument is not properly keyed no response is perceptible, and although we know these vibrations continually pass about, and probably through, us, yet without a properly keyed instrument the waves of the wireless go unnoticed. They are as much unnoticed as are the astral wave-lengths received from the planets, and which likewise depend for effect upon striking a sympathetic response in some human organism.

Now, however, comes Dr. Abrams with the statement that everything under the Sun is radio-active. And his statement is born out by experiments, not upon everything under the Sun, but upon a wide variety of objects. He proves, for instance, that handwriting, no matter how old, radiates the vibratory rates originally imparted to it by the person doing the writing. He will take a letter either a day or a hundred years old, and place some of the writing in his instrument, and from this alone determine the Race of the writer, the Sex, approximately the Age, and from what disease he suffers and the exact part of the body where the disease was located at the time of writing. Further, he has determined the radio-activity of certain drugs as affecting the rates of vibration of certain diseases; and these drugs are sometimes applied externally so that their rate of energy as radiated will cancel and annul the rate of the disease within the human body and so destroy the disease.

He has also shown by the effect produced upon suitable apparatus that a person radiates vibratory rates under a certain mental state that he does not radiate under another mental state. So, while it is easy enough to conceive the manner in which a physical object, a tone, or a color, may affect a person through radio-activity, here we have an index to the manner in which a phenomenon more difficult of comprehensionthat of the influence of such abstract notions as letters, numbers and wordsmay affect human life. For if every mental state, as seems certain, has its own peculiar rate of vibration, and every number, letter, or word seen, or heard spoken, tends to produce a specific mental state, which likewise is surely true within certain limitsthen it is easy to understand how a person may be affected, not by the abstract idea itself, but by the radio-activity of the mental state produced by the abstract idea, both in himself and in those about him.

As I have given detailed instructions in Course VI. For finding the vibratory influence of any name and any number, I shall not elaborate upon this phase of the matter here. But I do wish to point out that modern scientific discovery tends to confirm the findings of the ancients that names and numbers, as well as things commonly recognized as radiating energy such as tones and colors, and other things which are only new beginning to be suspected of radio-activityall things whatsoever in facthave a marked influence upon a person associating much with them. For we can no longer consider it ridiculous that letters, names and numbers can influence human life and destiny when it is conceded that they produce mental states in man which radiate energy that can be detected by proper apparatus.

Yet even as only the C string on a piano gives response to a C tone sounded near it, the other strings not being affected, so also a Mars vibration emanating from any object whatsoever will call forth a response only in the Mars center of the astral body of a person in the same vicinity. The Saturn center and the Venus center in the astral form no more respond to the Mars rate of vibration than the G string respond to the tone of C.

And what is of singular importance, the vibratory effect of a Mars environment merely intensifies the energy of the Mars center in the astral form, without changing its harmony or discord in relation to other centers. It is much as if a piano string were defective. Calling forth a response from it does not mend the defect, nor if the string be perfect neither does it call forth an imperfect response. The quality of response depends upon the nature of the string. And the quality of response from any center in the astral body which is given additional activity through the radiations of things in the same vicinity, depends upon the quality of the center so stimulated. Therefore, to associate with things ruled by a certain planet intensifies the power over the life of the center in the astral form corresponding to that planet. And if the planet is harmonious in the birth-chart, the association will yield added harmony, but if the planet is discordant in the birth-chart it will yield added discord.

It is found, however, that while certain things are ruled directly by the planets, that other things have a more sympathetic relation to the signs of the zodiac, which themselves are ruled by the planets. This is a distinction which should be well remembered. For the place of a planet in the birth-chart indicates a well-organized center of energy. But the part of the astral form indicated solely by a sign represents no such highly centralized point of reception and radiation. It merely maps a section of the astral form that is broadly responsive to such vibratory rates as are ruled by that sign. Association with an object ruled by a sign, therefore, intensifies that section of the astral form ruled by the sign, and tends to attract events and conditions in the life that are governed by the house in the birth-chart on whose cusp the sign is located. And from the standpoint of merely considering the sign, the fortune or misfortune of the events so attracted depends upon the harmony or discord of the planet ruling that sign. That is, when there is no planet in a sign, increasing the activity of the sign through association with objects ruled by it will tend to attract events of a nature corresponding to the house it governs in the birth-chart, and the fortune or misfortune of events so attracted is indicated by the harmony or discord of the planet ruling the sign. For a sign not being a well-organized of thought-elements but reflects the harmony or discord of the planetary center in the chart that actually rulers it. Therefore, when there is no planet in a sign, the effect that will follow artificially stimulating its activity through association may be ascertained by its house position and the aspects of its ruling planet.

When, however, there is a planet in a sign, increasing the activity of that part of the astral body ruled by the sign, gives this planetary center of energy just the kind of environment in which it can express its own vibratory rate to advantage. The rate of frequencies that call a response from a sign, do not bring a response from a planet that is not the ruler of the signfor only similar rates cal forth similar rates, and Aries vibrations do no call forth any activity from a Venus center of energy. But if Venus is in Aries, any increase in the activity of the Aries section of the astral from also permits an added radiation from the Venus center. Not that there is any sympathetic response, but the whole environment of the Venus-center being stimulated, the opportunity for the Venus-center also to radiate its rate of energy is increased. And in all cases it is found that increasing the influence of a sing has a greater influence upon human life through increasing the opportunity for any planets in the sign to express their rates, than through the additional influence of the sign itself. Therefore, when there is a planet in a sign, it is greater importance to consider the effect of increasing the influence of those planets by associating with the things ruled by the sign, than it is to consider merely the influence in the chart of the planet ruling the sign.

Now let us sum up those influences of association

(1). To associate with objects directly ruled by any planet is to increase the radio-activity of that planetary center in the astral form. The things affected by this increase of activity are primarily those ruled by the house actually occupied by the planet in the birth-chart. Secondarily, and of less consequence, these things will be effected that are denoted by the house-cusps on which the signs ruled by the planet are found in the birth-chart. The amount of harmony or discord that may be expected from this increased activity of the planetary center in the astral form is determined by the harmony or discord of the planet in the birth-chart.

(2). To associated with objects ruled by a zodiacal sign, if there is no planet in the sign, is to attract those conditions represented by the house-cusp occupied by the sign in the birth-chart. And the harmony or discord that may be expected is shown by the harmony or discord of the planet ruling the sign in the birth-chart. But if there is a planet in the sign the influence primarily and chiefly is to increase the opportunity for this planet to express its own particular rate. And whether this is harmonious or discordant may be determined by the aspects of the planet. And any and every planet in the sign will be thus affected, whether they are in the house the cusp of which is occupied by the sign, or in the adjacent house. Secondarily, and of less consequences, when there is a planet in the sign, the things represented by the house the cusp of which is occupied by the sign will be affected, and the manner in which they will be affected is determined by the harmony or discord of the planet ruling the sign in the birth-chart.

It will now be seen that there are two distinct methods by which man may alter the organizations of energy within his astral form and so attract a destiny more of his own choosing. The first, and more positive way, is to cultivate such thoughts and mental attitudes as will cancel and annul discordant rates within the astral form, and such as will build up harmonious centers of energy. The second, and less vigorous way, is to associate as little as possible with things whose rates stimulate the discordant centers in the astral from, and to associate as much as possible with those things stimulate the particularly harmonious centers in the astral from that tend to attract the desired destiny. There is no doubt that the importance of some trivial association with a name or number or color or flower or gem or person, is sometimes over estimated. And too great an estimation of the power of any one factor over the life is as deplorable as its to neglect to notice it at all. Yet a wise choice of daily environment is of real importance in shaping human destiny. Usually it is not difficult to adopt a business signature that is ruled by the planetary center whose vibrations it is desirable to intensify. Selecting a house number, or office number, may be more difficult. But at least the color of the wall paper, and a certain choice in regard to the color of the clothing worn, and the kind of flavors a person has about him, are not beyond ordinary control. And all these things, each in its own degree, tend to increase the radio-activity of certain centers of energy within the astral form, and thus affect the destiny.

I think, from the rules given, the influence of any object whose astrological rulership is known, may easily be determined by an inspection of the birth-chart of the individual with whom the thing is associated. However, one point, perhaps, needs illustration. Go let us assume it is desired to know what effect it would have had upon Abraham Lincoln to have lived in a manufacturing district. Manufacturing districts are ruled by Aries, therefore the Aries part of the astral constitution would have been intensified. And as Aries is on the cusp of his Fifth house (See frontispiece lesson No. 105.) this activity of the Aries section of his astral form would tend to attract children, speculations, pleasures and love affairs. And whether they would be fortunate or not when attracted is determined by the aspects to Mars, the ruler of Aries. And as Mars is in good aspect to the chief ruler of the Third (the Sun) these things would favor writing, harmony with relatives, and private studies. But as Mars is square the chief ruler of the Second (the Moon) these things would tend to added expense and loss of money.

But in the case cited the chief influence is not over the Fifth house and this is the point needing illustration but over the Fourth house. For although Venus is in Aries, she is in the Fourth house, and even so finds increased opportunity to express herself whenever Aries becomes more active. Therefore, the more important influence of living in a manufacturing district would be the effect upon the home life. And while Venus is semi-square the Sun, thus tending to affect writings and relatives somewhat unfavorable, yet Venus is also trine the Ascendant and the two planets on the Ascendant-- So that such an environment would favor domestic harmony, health and the expression of the personality. And tin this case the Fifth house influence as above delineated would be a secondary and minor consideration.

To give further examples of how associations affects an individual through increasing the activity of the centers indicated by certain planets in his birthchart, would be to use space needlessly. For, when the astrological rulership of anything is known, it is easy to determine its effect upon a person in the same vicinity by a careful analysis of the persons birth-chart. So I will now proceed to enumerate briefly a few of the important things ruled by each planet and zodiacal sign, so that their particular influence when associated with may be ascertained. However, as the kind of a person and the kind of business ruled by each planet was given in lesson No. 107; and the part of country, climate, part of city and part of home, ruled by each sign were given in lessons No. 90. and No. 91; and as the herbs and flowers, stones, branch of science and human function corresponding to each sign were given in connection with the corresponding Major Arcana of the Tarot, in Course VI These need not be repeated here. I will, however, give at least one flower directly ruled by each of the planets, taking such flowers as grow in my own garden, for there has, up to date, been no reliable literature in regard to this.

Having now considered the manner in which the things with which people associate increase the activity of the centers in their astral forms and thus attract events corresponding in nature and harmony to these centers, let us next take up the specific centers of energy in the astral from that tend to attract those who are friendly and those who are antagonistic.

The kind of friends more readily made, and those who are apt to affect the life through professions of friendship, are shown by the Eleventh house in the birth-chart. If there is a planet in the Eleventh house it will particularly indicate the kind of friends toward whom the person is drawn. If the Sun is there, it signifies he will have persons of station and power for friends; if the Moon, that he will make many friends among the common people: if Mercury, that he will attract literary friends, and those that exercise their minds; If Venus, he will make friends among those socially inclined, and among those who are lovers of art and music; If Mars, he will be drawn to surgeons, mechanics, soldiers, and quarrelsome people; If Jupiter, he will make friends with bankers and professional men; if Saturn, he will attract elderly persons, and those careful and prudent; if Uranus, he will make friends of cranks, inventors, occultists and eccentric characters; and if Neptune is there he will draw to him promoters, mediums, psychics and those of visionary tendency. And when there is no planet in the Eleventh house the ruler of the sign on the cusp of the Eleventh will indicate the kind of friends, but not in so precise and marked a manner as if the planet were actually in the Eleventh house.

Whether a person will benefit or lose through his friends, however, is not determined so much by the planet occupying the Eleventh house, or ruling its cusp as by its aspects. If the chief ruler of the Eleventh is strong by sign and well-aspected much benefit will come to him through the influence of his friends. But if the chief ruler of the Eleventh is weak by sign and badly afflicted by aspect he will suffer loss through friendship. The ruler of the Eleventh strong by sign shows that friends have the ability to help him if they so desire, but whether they do so or not is indicated by the aspects. When, however, it is weak by sign they have much less ability to render assistance, even though the nature of the aspects show that they would like to do so.

The rules just given are generalities only. We need not confine ourselves to such generalities in judging friendship, or indeed, and other department of life. For the nature of the aspects show precisely the nature of the benefit or affliction that is attracted by them.

But before we take up the detailed influence of the aspects let us consider the hopes and wishes, sorrows, public enemies and private enemies. And in the consideration of the influence of open enmity we must draw judgment chiefly from the Seventh house. The chief ruler of the Seventh will indicate the kind of enemies the person will havewhether the Mars type, the Jupiterian type, the Solar type, etc. The co-ruler of the Seventhif there is onewill indicate less important open enemies. If the ruler of the Seventh is strong by sign and well aspected, public enemies will do the person little damage. If the ruler of the Seventh has strong benefic aspects public opposition may even benefit him by bringing him to wider notice and attracting to him strong supporters. If the ruler of the Seventh is much afflicted, or is very weak by sign, open opposition will cause him much difficulty. And in every instance the manner in which the open opposition will benefit or damage is shown by the planets making aspect to the ruler of the Seventh, and the nature of the aspect.

Hopes and wishes are to be judged very similar to friendships. In fact, to a surprising extent the realization of hopes and wishes depend upon a persons friends. Benefic planets, or planets well-aspected, in the Eleventh house indicate that the persons fond wishes will largely be realized. Malefic planets, or planets ill-aspected in the Eleventh house indicate that most of the fond hopes will fail of realization. If there are no planets in the Eleventh, judgment should be drawn from the ruler of the Eleventhbut in this case the influence is less pronounced. And in any case the cause of the realization of hopes, or lack of it, is shown by the aspects made to the ruler of the Eleventh.

Secret Enemiesthose that work stealthily behind a persons back, are ruled by the Twelfth house. The kind of planets in the Twelfth house, if any, show the type of persons apt to become enemies. The ruler of the Twelfth much afflicted particularly if it is a planet in the TwelfthShow a great deal of trouble arising through secret enemies. The ruler of the Twelfth strong by sign, and well-aspected, indicates that the influence of secret enemies will work to bring advantage, for it will attract those benefits shown by the aspects, even though the enemy is trying to injure.

To a certain extent the sorrows and disappointments of life are brought about by these secret enemies. Nevertheless, a person with afflicted planets in the Twelfth house will suffer many restrictions and disappointments and have many secret sorrows apparently not brought about by enemies. The Twelfth house is the house of confinement, and where strongly afflicted tends to imprison in jails, hospitals, or through some affliction, such as chronic ill-health if this be shown, or to confine one to his own home, or to a very limited sphere of activity. The cause and result of such restrictions are shown by the aspects to the ruler of the Twelfth.

The Twelfth house is also the house psychic influences. It represents the entities of the astral region immediately adjacent to the physical. Planets in the Twelfth house, therefore, tend to open the avenue of communication between these two planes; and the nature of the influence exerted on the person, and the effect it will have upon him, may be determined by the nature of the planets in the Twelfth and their aspects. In this respect the influence of the Twelfth house is markedly different from that of the two other psychic houses. For the Eighth house has to do with the manner of death, and with the influence of those who have passed through the portals of death upon the persons life. And the Fourth house represents the persons surroundings and comforts, or lack of them, at the close of life, and indicates the unseen environment in which he lives. But the Twelfth house shows his tendency to attract to him astral entities, which may be thought-forms, elementals, deceased human beings, nature spirits, or what-not, opening a conscious or unconscious avenue of communication between them. That is, the center of energy in the astral form mapped by the planets in the Twelfth house attract unseen entities and open a means by which they influence the life. And whether this influence be a beneficial one, an inimical one, or a tendency to obsession, may be determined by the strength and aspects of the rulers of the Twelfth.

And it should be noted here that many planets in any house in the horoscope brings many kinds of influence into the life where the things of that house are concerned. Thus if there are many planets in the house of friends there will be many kinds of friends, each planet in the Eleventh representing a particular type. If there are many planets in the house of Open Enemies there will be different kinds of opposition; and if there are many planets in the house of Sorrows there will be secret enemies and sorrows of different sorts. The planets and their aspects in each case will reveal the kind of persons or entities and the manner in which they will act and the result of their influence upon the lifeunless the person attains wisdom and sets about to annul the influence of the inimical centers and builds up harmonious once in their stead.

In lesson No. 106. I have mentioned that each aspect indicates that thought-elements concerning the department of life shown by the house positions of the planets making the aspects, have united in a particular way. The precise process by which the centers in the astral body are formed, as indicated by each of the different aspects, is given full consideration in lesson No. 98. So our concern in this place is not in how the particular kinds of astral centers of energy indicated by the various aspects are built up in the precise manner they may be expected to act as forces attracting events in life.

The conjunction aspect usually, but not always, takes place between planets in the same sign and same house. But whether for good or ill, depending on the natural harmony between the conjoined planets, the influence of the conjunction is to bring those things generally ruled by both the planets, and those things in particular specifically governed by the house, or houses, into Prominence. And it is for this reason that the center of energy mapped by a conjunction is called a Prominence-Complex.

The Semi-Sextile aspect may occur in one house, or in house very close to each other. Its influenceor more truly the influence of the centers of energy mapped by itis to promote the Growth in a mild way of these things generally signified by the aspecting planets, and those departments of life specifically governed by the house ruled by those planets. That is, the things ruled by one of the planets will tend to promote the growth and development of the things ruled by the other aspecting planet. For this reason the center of energy mapped by this aspect is designated as a Growth-Complex.

A Parallel aspect acts in much the same way as a conjunction, except that it is more general in its influence, intensifying the radiant power of the center indicated by the aspect between the two planets. Therefore, it intensifies the influence in the life of those things in general ruled by the planets making the aspect, and in particular intensifying the importance of the departments of life governed by the houses in which the aspecting planets are found. It is because of this influence that the center of energy in the astral body mapped by the Parallel aspect is called in Intensity-Complex.

The Sextile aspect occurs between planets in different houses. And it indicates that the things generally ruled by one of the aspecting planets, and the things specifically ruled by it through house position, tend to bring opportunities where the things generally ruled by the other aspecting planet, through those things specifically governed by it through house position, are concerned. Thus if the aspect occurs between a planet in the First and a planet in the Eleventh, it indicates that Friends will provide opportunity for personal advancement, and that the personality will attract the opportunity for forming valuable friendships. And because the center is called an Opportunity-Complex

Now the center of energy mapped by a Trine aspect acts in quite different way. Usually there is little necessity of grasping an opportunity to garner in its fruits. There is such a relation between the things generally signified by the two aspecting planets, and more specifically ruled by them by house position, that they spontaneously, apparently, tend to bring Good Luck to each other. Thus a trine aspect between planets in the Tenth and Second tends to attract luck in business and in personal property; and association with personal property increases the honor and business, and business brings luck where personal property is concerned. Or is the trine be between planets in the Third and Eleventh, Friends tend to bring good luck where relatives, studies and travels are concerned; and Relatives, Studies and Travels not to bring good luck where friends, hopes and wishes are concerned. And it is because of this observed tendency of the centers of energy mapped by the aspect that it is termed a Luck-Complex.

An Inconjunct aspect has a very different sphere of activity. It may, or it May not, be fortunate. It maps a center of energy, formed by the thought-elements corresponding to the aspecting planets, that acts as an Expansive influence on those things generally signified by the aspecting planets, and specifically upon those things ruled through house position by the aspecting planets. Thus, if the inconjunct is between planets in the First and Sixth, it will tend to Expand the personal efforts, and will Expand the field of work; but if the aspecting planets are rather inharmonious to each other this tendency to Expansion will probably impair the health through drains upon the energy. If the aspect is between the Second and Seventh, money will tend to Expansion in partnership, and partnership will tend to Expansion where money is concerned; and if the aspecting planets are harmonious to each other this may attract beneficial partnerships and money; but if the aspecting planets are discordant to each other it may well cause ever-expenditure in money through the influence of partners, or discord with the partner due to money-spending. But this is sure that association with money will tend to Expansion where partners are concerned, and partnerships will attract Expansive influence where money is concerned. And it is due to this peculiar influences that the center of energy within the Astral form mapped by the inconjunct aspect is called an Expansion-Complex.

A square aspect, while not the strongest, is the most violent of all. And where this aspect is present it invariably indicates that the things ruled generally, and the things ruled specifically by house position, will prove an obstacle to the things ruled generally and the things ruled specifically by house position, the one planet to the other. If the aspect be between a planet in the Tenth and a planet in the First it indicates there will be something about the Personality that will prove an obstacle to Business success; and the nature of the obstacle is shown by the planet in The First. It also indicates that the requirements of Business and Honor will prove an Obstacle to the realization of some personal aim. If the square be between a planet in the Tenth and one in the Seventh, then Partnership will prove and Obstacle to Business success, and Business requirements will be an Obstacle to harmony in Partnership. In the latter case the nature of the planet in the Tenth will show the nature of the Obstacles afflicting Partnership. If the aspect be between a planet in the Fifth and planet in the Eighth, then Love-Affairs, Pleasures, or Children, will prove an Obstacle to the realization of a Legacyand Death, or a Legacy, will prove an Obstacle to Pleasures, Love-Affairs and Children. And it is due to this quality of attracting Obstacles that the center of energy within the astral form mapped by a square aspect is called an Obstacle-Complex.

A Semi-Square aspect does not tend to bring the sudden changes and upheavals and imposing obstacles denoted by the square. Instead it operates to attract hesitation, anxiety, and long continued abrasions. These things ruled generally, and those things ruled specifically by the house position of one of the planets, tend to act as an irritation to the things ruled generally, and the things ruled specifically through house position, by the other planet. This aspect usually occurs between planets in adjacent houses. And if it be between planets in the Fourth and Fifth houses, Children or Pleasures are found to bring criticism and anxiety into the Home, and the Home acts as an irritant upon Pleasures and Children. In a similar manner the things ruled by one planet will prove a source of Friction to the things ruled by the other planet from whatever houses the aspect is formed. And for this reason the center of energy in the astral body mapped by the Semi-Square aspect is called a Friction-Complex.

The Sesqui-Square aspect has about the same force as the Semi-Square, but instead of prolonging friction, it tends toward a breaking up of conditions at intervals. It signifies that he things ruled generally by one planet, and these things ruled by it specifically through house position, have a tendency to produce Agitation where the things are concerned that are ruled generally, and specifically through house position, by the other planet. Thus if this aspect occurs between a planet in the Third and a planet in the Seventh it signifies that Relatives or Travel or Study will tend toward some change where Partnership is concerned. There is a tendency to break up Partnerships. And it also signifies that Marriage or Partnership will tend to break up the conditions surrounding the Relatives and bring a change in relation to then and to Studies and to Travel. Or if the aspect be between a planet in the Sixth and one in the Eleventh it indicates that Friendships tend to cause changes not altogether beneficial to the Healthperhaps through the demands upon time and energy -- and that illness tends to bring about changes and a certain breaking up of Friendships. And it is due to this restless tendency toward change that the center of energy in the astral body mapped by a Sesqui-Square is called an Agitation-Complex.

The strongest of the inharmonious aspects is the Opposition. The opposition aspect indicates there is a strong gradual pulling asunder, a pronounced separative influence, where the things are concerned ruled by each of the planets generally and by house position. This influence is so pronounced that it appears impossible to have success, in full measure and at the same time, in both departments of life signified by the house positions of the two aspecting planets. To attain the one in full measure requires the relinquishment of the other. There is a separative influence also between the things signified generally by the planets; but it manifests more definitely where the departments of life governed by the houses in which the planets occur are concerned.

Thus if there be an opposition between planets in the First and Seventh, the Personal ambitions can only be realized by relinquishing Partnership; and Partnership can only be harmoniously maintained by relinquishing certain Personal aims. If the opposition be between plants in the Fourth and Tenth, success in Business will demand neglect of the Home, and success in the Home life will tend toward making Business a failure. In the measure that the things signified by one of the opposing planets are harmoniously retained will there be a tendency toward loss and separation from the things signified by the other planet. Due to the observed tendency of planets making the opposition aspect to indicate Separation the center of energy within the astral form mapped by this aspect is called a Separation-Complex.

Now while I have emphasized the influence of the aspects as affecting the things in general signified by a planet, and the things in particular denoted by its house position, the same conditions also obtain, though in less degree, as applying to the things ruled by the house whose cusp is ruled by a planet.

But In all those considerations of aspects it should never be lost sight of that any aspect may be canceled and annulled by applying a proper Mental Antidote, and that any center of energy mapped by an aspect may be duplicated by a volitional cultivation of certain thoughts and actions. In this manner centers of energy may be built up in the astral form that will have all the potency of the best and most powerful positions and aspects to attract friends and attain the realization of hopes and fond desires.
